Winter Tree Paintings

In keeping with our wintry theme we have been making some wintry tree paintings making use of that great technique - tape resist art. We think they turned out rather nicely.

First we went for a walk through the woods looking at the wintry trees. While JS was asleep I stuck some masking tape on the paper in the shape of a tree. I then handed him the paper with some 'wintry' watercolour paints and the colour began!

This was such a great activity for a two year old mindee as he gets to paint as much as he likes as well as painting a picture that he subsequently recognises. He is very proud of this one and shows it to me on the wall each time we pass!

Circle Print Snowmen

Although we are still awaiting the promised snowfall, the children loved painting these wintry snowmen and are very proud of their pictures.

We talked about colours and the circle shapes and then the fun began - lots of circular printing.

We discussed where our hats, noses, buttons and arms go although the children had some interesting interpretations of this!

January Topic

Our January topic will be WINTER

Some of the fun things that we will be getting up to include:-

playing with sparkly snow play-dough
creating snowmen pictures using circles
looking at animals that like snow
enjoying winter sensory play with rice, salt and some other goodies
Reading books about snow e.g. guess how much I love you in the winter
Going outside to enjoy the wintry weather!

Christmas Cards

This afternoon we have been making Christmas cards, I hope the parents like them as much as we do!

The children had a lovely time finding all their sparkly favourites to glue onto the triangle trees.
