Aquarium Sensory Play

After a recent visit to the aquarium where the children were fascinated with the sharks I decided to create a sensory tray based on the things we had seen.

Using food colouring I coloured some rice a blue and green colour and added in a few shells and some aquatic animals. The children thought this was great, immediately trying to identify their favourite animals before turning to the feel and texture of the rice.

It was fun to scoop up the rice with the shells and we talked about the sounds the rice made when it dropped back into the tray.

As ever, the older children were desperate to join in on their return from school and between them created an 'underwater tea party' comprising rice cakes from which they fed all the sea creatures!

Aquarium Visit

Today we ventured to the aquarium with some friends. The boys had a lovely time playing with their friends in the soft play area and looking at all the fish.

As always we always managed to find some new fish to talk about or learn some new facts! This visit was dominated by the older children being fascinated by jelly fish and sharks with the youngest attempting to say the word 'fish'!

Visiting the Fish

Today we decided to go and see the fish at the aquarium again as one of the boys is very interested in sea horses at the moment.
We met up with some friends and had a lovely time looking at all the fish, particularly the sharks. We also had to wait for several of the big boats to pass before we could cross the revolving bridge much to the fascination of the boys.

When we got home the boys wanted to do some drawings of fish. After some debating they decided that they wanted to colour in some sea horses and then chose to add their own sparkles!

The Aquarium

We had a lovely time at Plymouth Aquarium this morning. We said 'hello' to Nemo, spotted the turtle, saw the sharks and had a good play in the ball pool!

To add to the excitement we bought a new fluffy starfish toy for our nursery rhyme sack too!
