Making the most of the weather!

Well it has been a beautiful week this week and we have certainly been making the most of it. We had a lovely trip to Ham Woods where the children loved running through the woods and spotting the bluebells and butterflies. They had a paddle in the stream, climbed trees and investigated the map of the woods with fascination.

We also decided it was finally warm enough to plant our fruit and vegetables so after a trip to the shops together and much deliberating about what we should grow, everyone had a go at covering the plants with soil and watering them. We have potatoes, strawberries, tomatoes, peppers and peas...let's hope a few of them survive the garden snails!

To end the week we had a lovely day out in Seaton where the children played in rock pools, explored caves and finished off with a lovely picnic by the sea. Even the dog had a paddle!

Spring at last

We have really enjoyed the sudden change in the weather this week and made the most of more outdoor play opportunities.

Each evening the children have made the most of being out in the garden. They have played together inventing stories about what they are doing, particularly those involving making potions!

They have used their developing skills to measure, touch, dig and pour.

We finished the week with a trip to Wembury beach where the children had a great time playing with the stones, the stream and the dogs!

End of the Holidays

It is the last week before the big ones go back to school so we thought we would provide them with lots of fresh air and exercise. I couldn't think of a better place to achieve this than at Wembury Beach. Accompanied by two other childminders and lots more children we spent a happy, albeit a little chilly, five hours on the beach.

The children had such a lovely social time. They enjoyed a picnic on the beach (always a favourite) as well as digging a boat in the sand and taking turns sitting in it, rock pooling, throwing stones and building sand castles.

At the end of the day the children were lucky enough to see some ponies that had been brought down to get used to the water. Even our youngest had great fun filling buckets with stones and playing in the water. There was so much fun that some people needed a quick snooze on the warm sand!
